After finishing runners-up to champions Paris Saint-Germain last season, Monaco yet again saw a host of key players sold and are languishing in the bottom three with just one league win in nine games. And reports from France claim the Venezuelan coach will be fired with Henry already lined up to take over at the Stade Louis II.

Henry, 41, has been working as an assistant coach to Belgium boss Roberto Martinez for the past few years and has made no secret of his ambition to become a manager in his own right. The former Arsenal striker was linked with the vacancy at Bordeaux following the dismissal of Gus Poyet.

He was high on Aston Villa’s list to replace Steve Bruce at Villa Park. But it now looks like the French legend could make an emotional return to the club where he began his incredible career.

Henry came through Monaco’s academy and helped them win the Ligue 1 title in 1997. He went on to enjoy to an incredible career, winning league and cup titles in England and Spain with Arsenal and Barcelona respectively, as well as the Champions League and Club World Cup.

The French legend is also linked with a coaching job with England Championship side, Aston Villa, who recently sacked their manager, Steve Bruce.

Fans on social media are giving their opinions on the sack, as some think it is too early, some think it is the right call to sack the Portuguese manager, and some think the club policy is the cause of their poor form.
